Thank you for the reply. I know that using array replication that all VMs in a LUN are protected in a group.
But is it possible to only bring up 1 vm that is on a Lun up to a protected--knowing the sync for the Lun will stop for the others.
For instance:
Lun01 contains vm1,vm2,vm3
It is synced via array to the protected site.
Could I create a Protection group that only contains vm1. And then initiate a Recovery of that protection group. If so, would SRM simply leave vm2, and vm3 alone, break the array sync via SRA, and then bring up vm1 on the protected site? Knowing of course that vm2 and vm3 will no longer be protected?
Delving into SRM, it just seems i will need to really rearrange our Luns,,,,we have some Luns with 10vms, some with 40 even. We have total about 1,000 vms.
I am just trying to see if I am going to be put in a situateion that forever reason we need to do a planned migration or we have some disaster, but we dont want to be forced to bringing over(and potentially losing whatever data our rpo cant catch) ALL vms in an Lun just to get 1 or 2 spun up.
I suppose if we were doing some planned migratoin we could svmotion to a "blank" lun and protect that, and then recover it.
Am I making sense:)
Thanks!
