If the scripts mentioned in that KB do not produce any results, it could mean there are no failed logon events, or the retention period on the Tasks and Events is too low. What retention period is configured ?
There is in fact no need to have 2 scripts, you can produce both results in 1 script.
The difference lays in the value of the Host property. If there is no value in that property, it concerns a vCenter logon attempt, otherwise it is an ESXi logon attempt. But both types are kept in the same Tasks and Events database on the vCenter.
